MEN’S BREAFAST – DECEMBER 13

Our next meeting of the Men’s Fellowship will feature one of the newest members of the Tempe City Council – Corey Woods. Corey will share why he, at such a young age, feels called to public service, and what his experience has been like thus far being a part of the City Council. With the economic downturn cities are experiencing a drop in financial resources just like most of us. It was announced last week that Tempe is having to deal with $50 million less this coming year. So what are the priorities? We invite you to come both to listen and to ask questions.  Saturday, December 13, 8am – 9:30am, Fellowship Hall.

The Wellness Community – a non-profit organization dedicated to helping people with cancer and their loved ones by providing free, professionally-led programs of emotional support, education , and hope – will be holding their

3rd Annual Hope Café on Friday, December 5 from 6-10 p.m.  Come celebrate life and cancer survivorship through community and art!  The evening will include the grand opening of their Teen and Family Center, music by Arizona Music Project’s guitarist Nick Sterling, pianist Elijah Boosenbroek, and guitarist Paul Cruize, and an exhibit of local artists’ work.  The address for the event is 360 East Palm Lane, Phoenix, AZ 85004 – shuttle stop #40 on Artlink’s First Friday art tour map.  For more information, about The Wellness Community, call 602.712.1006, or check out their website: www.TheWellnessCommunityAZ.org.

Elder Awareness Education Series

Parish Nurse, Amanda Morris and Partners from Heritage Home Healthcare have created especially for you.....the members and friends of U.P.C., a series of educational sessions centered on care for an aging population. This series of guest speakers has been specifically designed to address aging persons with healthcare needs, caregivers within the church, as well as adult children caring for their aging parents.

This series will be meeting weekly beginning on Thursday, December 4th at 2pm right here at U.P.C. As a mechanism of outreach into our surrounding community, many churches in our Presbytery as well as other local churches of various faiths have been invited to join us for this FREE service.

Please plan to join us as this information is a valuable resource to all of us, no matter where we are in our lives. As caregivers, we need to be fully equipped with knowledge in order to best serve others.

Please email Amanda Morris at: Amanda.Morris@upctempe.org to reserve your spot to any one of the sessions. Look for more information in the December Monthly Newsletter as well as fliers around the church campus!
