2017 Summer Bible-Diving: Prophets Together!

The Minor Prophets

YOU ARE INVITED to another UPC summer of bible-diving. This study is an opportunity for individuals, families, or friend circles to tackle another portion of the bible: the Minor Prophets—all twelve books in fourteen weeks.

CLICK HERE or below for the summer reading calendar that maps out each day’s reading. Every week a brief reflection and questions will be sent out in the weekly e-mail to the congregation, as well as printed in the bulletin. Additional resources can be found in print in the church office or digitally below, including a family packet, key facts, and study guides. You are encouraged to use the resources and tools in a way that makes your experience of the Minor Prophets enjoyable and enriching.

Summer can be a time of spiritual growth, whether you are in church or traveling. This reading challenge is a wonderful way to share Scripture with your family. Each day’s reading can be used as a morning or evening devotional. Your reading will be enriched if you use a study Bible containing background information and notes that help interpret difficult verses. Below is a list of good study Bibles.

In addition, we recommend two books as resources for this summer’s reading challenge: Old Testament Prophets for Today by Carolyn J. Sharp, and Daniel & the Twelve Prophets: for Everyone by John Goldingay, Westminster Bible Companion collection, study bibles.

Begin your summer reading commitment on Sunday, May 21 with an all-church BBQ and potluck. What could be better than being and doing together!
